The 2008 'Fast Fifty' report was published in stages during April and May 2008 and this page gives a brief overview of how this year's report is presented. In its 7th year, Intendance's annual survey of top UK law firm websites has become an eagerly-awaited fixture; the best websites were announced at an invitation-only awards event on 28th April.
- The Fast Fifty report has gone through major revamp in time for the 2008 edition. To make the research more accessible, we have taken the traditional all-in-one format and split in to three self-contained parts that focus on a different aspect of report's findings. All three parts can be purchased separately and are designed to provide best practice guidelines for an effective legal website:
Part One - The Inside Story - sets out the results from a unique and extensive online survey among the sample of the 50 fastest-growing UK law firms* and focuses on respondents' opinions on the rationale, costs and future ambitions of their website. Providing a detailed insight into firms' online strategy this section is invaluable for those planning any website development initatives, from basics such as the use of email marketing to the use of Web 2.0 and mobile access.
Part Two - Who is Winning & Why? - the results from our renowned benchmarking study of the fifty selected websites, focusing in depth on how firms are using their website to differentiate themselves in today's increasingly competitive market. This section looks in detail at how effective websites should be structured, the scope and delivery of content, usability issues, and the effective use of design to support both the website and the firm's brand. This is the only publication we know of that gives such a detailed analysis of how top law firms market themselves online. Purchasers of this Part can access the main website results immediately. The full publication will will available next week.
Part Three - Getting it Right First Time - a thorough, practical guide to developing and maintaining an effective web presence, based on our unique empirical knowledge of law firm websites. This publication brings togther all our research knowledge and presents it in a highly accessible format, enabling the reader to establish quickly a roadmap for effective website development. Looking at not only the 'what' and 'how' to feature on a legal website, but also the 'why', this best practice guide can be used by firms of any size firm to identify website priorities to ensure the web team gets it right first time. Practical examples and interviews with those responsible for winning websites make this an essential tool for any firm.
- We announced the Fast Fifty winners at an invitation-only awards party on 28th April 2008, where Cherie Booth QC presented the awards. In addition to identifying an Overall winner and the four category winners - Content, Usability, Design & Marketing - this year we've added three new categories:
- Best graduate microsite
- Best CSR microsite
- Most improved website over the year
- We've also looked outside the sample for 'websites to watch', to identify other strong performers.
