The latest Intendance report in the ‘Who is Winning and Why?’ series analyses the online effectiveness of the top 20 law firms that feature in The Lawyer ‘Rising 50’ list. In a break with tradition, we have separated the report into three distinct parts.
The first part is a study of the strengths and weaknesses of these firms’ websites. The second part of the research features a questionnaire of the firms’ attitudes towards their online strategy, which seeks to identify the problems encountered by this size of law firm. Part Three ranks the websites according to the four essential criteria of a website: content, design, usability and marketing.
As a combination, these pieces of research throw considerable light on the problems facing this type of law firm in a modern, competitive legal world. The initial appraisal of the firm’s websites produces a mixed bag of results, but the overall impression is of weaknesses prevailing over strengths. Indeed, some websites are so heavily criticised for their poor design, confusing navigation and lack of content that a complete website overhaul is the only effective solution. The report from the survey provides interesting answers as to why these websites are failing to reflect their firms’ growing status.
Part One of the report can be downloaded for free via the link on the right hand side of this page. The second and third part will follow in March 2008.
